Lakeview Hospital Donates over $12,000 to Davis Education Foundation

Bountiful, UT – The final numbers from the all-night softball tournament, Midnight Madness (presented by Lakeview Hospital), are finally in and the total proceeds are astounding--$12,422,93! The tournament was held as a fundraiser for the Davis Education Foundation, a non-profit entity which serves to fund school programs in Davis School District that are not otherwise supported by tax dollars.

Beginning at 6:00 pm on September 14, 2012, the tournament was a sell-out with 24 teams. A double-elimination tournament, co-ed teams consisted of 10-12 players each and skill level varied from novice to expert. “Everyone had a fantastic time,” said Tiffany Burnett, spokesperson for Lakeview Hospital. “It was great to see so many people at the tournament. The concessions, the atmosphere and the venue really set the stage for a fun night.”

Staffing the tournament were players from Davis High School’s Softball team Lakeview Hospital provided each of this club $1500 for their assistance with the tournament—money that will be spent to buy the team new uniforms.

“This tournament was tremendously successful,” says Lakeview Hospital CEO, Rand Kerr. “Hosting an event that involved our entire community and raised money for needed educational supplies in our school district is a wonderful opportunity.”

The money donated to the Davis Education Foundation will go toward an elementary decathlon, purchasing much needed PE and health equipment for elementary schools, as well as funding a pedometer program and the purchase of hygiene kits.

“We provide 100% of the proceeds to the Davis School District,” Burnett notes. ”Lakeview Hospital fronted all costs associated with the contest. “Lakeview Hospital fronts all costs associated with this community event. That way, we can give back to our community and invest in the future of our children.”

In addition to Lakeview Hospital, the MountainStar family also includes St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Ogden Regional Medical Center, Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Brigham City Community Hospital, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, and a number of outpatient surgical and imaging centers.
