Bountiful, UT — For a sixth consecutive year, Lakeview Hospital has been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® by Watson Health™, formerly Truven Health Analytics. Out of over 2,700 hospitals nationwide, Lakeview is one of only three in Utah on the list. It is also one of only two recognized among the 20 facilities in the Small Community Hospitals category.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized as one of Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals for six years in a row; it is evident that our staff and physicians uphold this mission,” Troy Wood, chief executive officer at Lakeview Hospital, said. “At Lakeview Hospital, our mission is to provide the quality of healthcare we want our closest loved ones to receive. We thank our patients for instilling trust in us to provide them with the best possible care and service!”
According to this year's 100 Top Hospitals study, the nation's best hospitals demonstrated that quality care and operational efficiency can often be achieved simultaneously. Following were the key performance measures on which the recognized hospitals significantly outperformed non-winning peer group hospitals:
- Better survival rates
- Fewer complications and infections
- Shorter length of stay
- Shorter emergency department wait times
- Lower inpatient expenses
- Higher patient satisfaction
- Favorable profit margins overall
The facilities selected as one of the 100 Top Hospitals for 2018 rank among the best in the country in overall performance. This distinction identifies Lakeview Hospital as a high performing healthcare resource for the communities it serves.
Watson Health is a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of health care since 1993. Each year, the organization spotlights the best-performing hospitals in the U.S. based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available data. Researchers evaluate how well each hospital met criteria in 11 key areas related to clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics.
To maintain the study's high level of integrity, Watson Health researchers only analyze publicly available data. That includes Medicare cost reports, Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, as well as core measures and patient satisfaction data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website.
The 100 Top Hospitals were announced in the March 8, 2018. Hospitals do not apply for this recognition and honorees do not purchase the right to market inclusion in the 100 Top Hospitals list. More information on this study and other 100 Top Hospitals research is available at Watson Health.
