Bountiful, Utah — Lakeview Hospital is the only one in Utah to be named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. It is among only 45 hospitals nationwide to earn this prestigious recognition in the General Hospital category. This award is acknowledged as one of the most competitive national honors that hospitals can achieve.
"Our caregivers and support staff work hard to make sure that our care is the highest quality and every patient is a top priority -- every day," Lakeview CEO Troy Wood said. "I’m incredibly proud of the continuous recognition they achieve through national awards and accreditations."
Annually, nearly 1,900 hospitals nationwide report data to The Leapfrog Group during its Hospital Survey. The national organization compares hospitals’ performance on national standards of patient care across many areas. Each hospital’s data is evaluated to identify how effectively its staff prevents infections and medication errors, reduces C-sections, and uses technology to ensure safer care. The evaluations also consider whether effective leadership policies and practices are in place.
The Leapfrog Group is an independent hospital watchdog organization. Based on its annual survey results, the group ranks every participating hospital according to its ability to ensure patient safety, prevent errors and provide value. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
This year, there are 109 recipients of the Top Hospitals Award. Among them, 45 are Top General Hospitals. Honorees in other categories include 10 Top Children’s Hospitals, 36 Top Teaching Hospitals and 18 Top Rural Hospitals.
"We are proud to recognize Lakeview as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog. "This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results."
