In order to protect our patients, visitors, physicians and caregivers from the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are enacting a modified hospital visitor policy. We will now allow one visitor per patient in many areas of the hospital between the hours of 10:00am - 7:00pm. We reexamined our "no visitor" policy and felt it was appropriate and in our patient's best interests to begin allowing a visitor again.
This decision was made knowing that we have adequate PPE for staff and can provide each visitor with a mask to add additional protection. We will also be socially distancing any waiting areas and adding signage where needed to remind visitors of our increased precautions in the hospital. We will continue to perform a temperature check and symptom screening for every individual entering the hospital (including doctors and employees). Visitors will be required to check-in and out as well as wear a mask. While we can provide a mask, you are encouraged to bring your own.
This new visitor policy will not change our current process for same day surgery, outpatient services or the ER. Those waiting for a surgery patient or receiving outpatient services will be asked to wait in their car and will not be allowed to congregate in the waiting area. Our ER will continue to allow an individual to accompany the patient into the hospital and help provide needed patient information. The visitor will also be asked to wait in their car and not in the waiting area unless the patient is under 18 years old.
