Pain Control for Total Knee Replacements and Shoulder Surgeries

At Lakeview Hospital, our anesthesiologists help ease recovery pain by administering nerve blocks. Commonly used, “blocks” are an effective weapon against pain after shoulder or knee surgery.

Prior to your procedure, an anesthesiologist injects a long-lasting medicine to numb the shoulder or knee area. This localized anesthesia, commonly referred to as a “nerve block,” will keep the surgical area numb for a day or so after surgery. The result: you don’t feel as much pain during the time when your shoulder or knee would likely hurt the most.
